In April 2012, the National Center for Safe Routes to School held its 17th Safe Routes to School (SRTS) National Course instructor training in Sterling, Va. Thirteen professionals from around the country participated in a week-long training to become SRTS National Course instructors. To date, more than 200 professionals have been trained as SRTS National Course Instructors. This training also was observed by two representatives from the government of Chile, who are interested in growing a Safe Routes to School Program there.
