Highlights from the fourth quarter (October-December) of 2012 include:
States announced $13 million in SAFETEA-LU funding for local and/or statewide SRTS programs during the quarter. Three states have announced awards using Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funds.
At least 13,863 schools have benefited or will benefit from funds announced by State SRTS Programs.
Of the $1.147 billion apportioned to states under SAFETEA-LU, $873 million has been announced for local and statewide SRTS activities since the National Safe Routes to School Program began.
