The SRTS Program Tracking Brief is a quarterly snapshot of State-reported SRTS program funding activity prepared by the National Center for Safe Routes to School.*
* Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), the current transportation legislation, makes Safe Routes to School (SRTS) activities eligible to compete for funding alongside other programs, including the Transportation Enhancements program and Recreational Trails program, as part of a program called Transportation Alternatives. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is charged with putting the legislation into practice, and it provides information about MAP-21 on its website.
State SRTS programs are handling MAP-21 guidance in various ways. Visit our Find State Contacts page to learn more about how your State is approaching MAP-21 and SRTS.
