Adults learn best when they feel the topic is relevant to them.(1) Safe Routes to School (SRTS) education aims to provide parents with information about how to address barriers to walking and bicycling and how to create and promote safe walking and bicycling behaviors and environments for their children. For example, if vehicles frequently speed near the school, parents may be educated on both how the speed of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian relates to the seriousness of injuries and potential solutions for improving safety.
